Use It or Lose It.

you're forgetting that what is going
on around you is not reality.
Think about that.
기억하라.
그대가 어디에서 왔으며 어디로 가는가를
왜 자신을 원래의 자리에서 혼란속에 빠져들게 했는지를..
Remember where you came from,
where you're going, and why you created
the mess you got yourself into in the first place.
그대는 슬픈 죽음의 길로 걸어가고 있다.
기억하라
죽음이란 멋진 훈련과정이라는 것을
만일 그 사실을 마음깊이 기억한다면
그대는 죽음을 즐길 수 있으리라.
You're going to die a horrible death, remember
Its all good training, and you'll enjoy it
more if you keep the facts
in mind.
하지만 죽음을 약간은 엄숙하게 여길 필요는 있다.
웃으며 형장으로 걸어가는 것을
삶의 수준이 낮은 생명들은 이해하지 못한다.
그리고 그들은 당신을 미쳤다고 할 것이다.
Take your dying with some seriousness, however.
Laughing on the way to your execution
is not generally understood by less-
advanced life-forms, and they'll
call you crazy.
배운다는 것은
그대가 이미 알고 있는 것을 찾아내는 것이다.
행한다는 것은
그대가 알고 있다는 것을 증명하는 것이다.
가르친다는 것은
다른 사람들에게 그들도 그대만큼 잘 알고 있다는 것을
상기(想起)시켜 주는 것이니
그대들은 모두 배우는 자이며
행하는 자이며 가르치는 사람이다.
Learning
is finding out
what you already know.
Doing is demonstrating that
you know it.
Teaching is reminding others
that they know just as well as you.
You are all learners,
doers, teachers.
그대의 유일한 의무는
그 어떠한 생애에 있어서도
자신에 충실하는 것이니
타인 혹은 다른 것에 충실한 것은
불가능할 뿐만 아니라
거짓 메시아의 징표이다.
Your onl y
obligation in any lifetime
is to be true to yourself.
Being true to anyone else or
anything else is not onl y
impossible, but the
mark of a fake
messiah.
가장 단순한 의문은
가장 심오한 의문이다.
그대는 어디에서 태어났는가?
그대의 집은 어디이고,
그대는 어디로 가고 있는가?
그대는 무엇을 하고 있는가?
생각하라.
가끔씩 이것들에 대하여.
그리하여 가만히 지켜보라.

to avoid responsibility
is to say, "I've got

그대가 진정한 친구를 만난다면
만나는 첫 순간에

Your friends
will know you better
in the first minute you meet

your acquaintances

anything to learn from them.

You're always free
to change your mind and
choose a different future, or

past.
구름은 왜 자신이
그 방향으로 그만한 속도로 흐르고 있는지 모른다.
그것은 충동을 느낄 뿐...
이것이 지금 가야 할 장소라고.
그러나 하늘은 안다.
구름 뒤에 숨겨진 이유와 방식을.
그리고 그대 역시 알게 되리라.
벌떡 일어나 수평선 너머를 바라본다면.
A cloud does not know
why it moves in just such a
direction and at such
a speed,
it feels an impulsion... this is
the place to go now.
But the sky knows.
the reasons and the patterns
behind all clouds,
and you will know, too, when
you lift yourself high enough
to see beyond
horizons.

The bond
that links your true family
is not one of blood, but

Argue
for your limitations,

The world
is your execise-book, the pages
on which you do your sums.
It is not reality,
although you can express reality
there if you wish.
You are also
free to write nonsense,
or lies, or to tear
the pages.
그대 무지의 표시는
불공정과 비극에 대한 믿음의 깊이이다.
애벌레가 세계의 종말이라고
생각하는 변신을 신(神)은 나비라고 부른다.
The mark
of your ignorance is the depth
of your belief in injustice
and tragedy.
What the caterpillar
calls the end of the world,
the master calls a
butterfly.
원죄의식이 그대의 자아를 억누르고 있다.
그런 두려움을 가지고 살지 말라.
The
original sin is to
limit the Is.

If
you will
practice being fictional
for a while, you will understand
that fictional characters are
sometimes more real than
people with bodies
and heartbeats.
그대가 인생에서 만나는
모든 사람들과 사건들은
그대가 끌어당겼기 때문에 거기에 있다.
그대가 그것들을 어떻게 할까 선택하는 것은
그대에게 달려있는 것이다.
Every person,
all the events of your life
are there because you have
drawn them there.
What you choose
to do with them is
up to you.
그대가 말하는 진리는
과거에도 미래에도 없다.
진리는 오직 현재에만 있는 것,
그것으로 충분하다.
The
truth you
speak has no past
and no future.
It is,
and that's all it
needs to be.
여기
그대가 지상에서의 임무를
끝마쳤는가를 알아보는 시험이 있다.
만약 그대가 살아 있다면
그 시험은 끝나지 않은 것이다.
Here is
a test to find
whether your mission on earth
is finished:
If you're alive,
it isn't.
자유롭고 행복하게 살기 위해서는
권태를 감수하지 않으면 안된다.
이것이 언제나 쉬운 희생은 아니다.
In order
to live free and happily,
you must sacrifice
boredom.
It is not always an easy
sacrifice.
이별을 맞이해도 당황하지 말라.
다시 만나려면 이별이 필요한 것.
친구란
어느 순간, 또는 여러 생애 뒤에
반드시 다시 만나게 되리니.
Don't be
dismayed at good-byes.
A farewell is necessary before
you can meet
again.
And meeting
again, after moments or
lifetimes, is certain for
those we are
friends.
지금까지 위에서 한 모든 말들은
틀린 것일지도 모른다.
Everything
